Celebrities capabilities have now become noticed by Thomas Cook. All they need to do is stick them on Television, they same way everyone else would use them, turn them into trained advertising chimps. However Thomas Cook has been a little different in the way they have done this. A UK celebrity teaming up with a UK tour operator is a recipe for success. Jamie Redknapp is a name known by almost everyone, and for no reason hated. His Wife Louise is now on a judging panel for a dance contest, viewed by millions. Both of these people are loved by the British public!
What is it in this advert that makes it oh so special. These two celebrities are easy for the public to relate too. They embark on a holiday with Thomas Cook and are seen relaxing on the beach, going for a meal, nothing to fancy. Many people will see these celebrities travelling here, and think that for a week or so they could also live like a celebrity. It is extremely difficult for me to believe that these two celebrities actually would consider staying in the same resorts as us, with the cash flow they have.
Since they have been in the Nintendo Wii adverts they are loved by the whole public. Which is great, and good for them, at least we have an idea of what our holiday will be like. Thomas Cook is one of, if not the longest serving Tour Operator in the UK, and they have been providing holidays for over a hundred years. This also very successful business seems to have captured a perfect partnership with the Redknapp’s.
However, why not take a different view on this. We all know that Celebrities don’t stay in the same resorts as us common folk. This hotel they are in at the advert, they wouldn’t really stay there, so are they telling us lies? Somehow I do not think that this holiday is going to be all that great.
Sharm El Sheikh Holidays are a favourite of the Celebrity demographic, showered in luxury hotels, however saying that Egypt holidays have been popular with the entire country. So is Thomas Cook wrong to be employing role models in their adverts, of course not, I have been on Hurghada holidays, what fun it was, no celebrities spotted though!
