Cheap Rail Travel in Europe?
So I´ll be taking a trip through France this summer along with Switzerland and Germany, and I wanted to know if anyone knew what would be the easiest way to travel by rail.
My parents went to Spain last year and bought some “unlimited rail passes” but after buying the pass which was about $400, they had to pay an additional “reservation charge” which could be up to €60 for every train ride they were going to ride on!
So I was wondering would it be cheaper to just buy the train tickets as I go along, or are the train passes still cheaper???
If you are under 26 you can generally get a young persons deal on train travel throughout Europe.
The reservation charges usually only apply to certain situation. Carefully read the fine print before getting train passes.
Train passes tend to be cheaper than individual tickets but you can just research online. Most train lines in Europe have websites where you can plan out trips and see fares.
